John Cale will be in conversation at Sound City in Tim Peaks Diner on Saturday 27th May with a once in a lifetime talk that will explore the beginnings of his career, his move to the US and relationship with Lou Reed and his musical direction past, present and future.
In addition, legendary music manager Danny Fields will take to the Tim Peaks stage on Saturday for an In Conversation discussing his time in the industry as manager of the Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, The Ramones and Iggy & The Stooges.
On Saturday 27th May, Edge Hill University and the 1st Symposium of the LBGTQ+ Music Study Group will host ‘Spin Me Round’.
Liverpool’s Pete Burns died last October. He was globally famous as the frontman of Dead or Alive’s hit Spin Me Round. In this Sofa Session, his celebrity friends will join with observers to compare notes on Pete’s memorable character, his ‘outrageous’ looks and behaviour, and his influence. They will do so in the context of Liverpool’s queer scene - then, now and what the future might hold.
